Chappell Roan is the moment. Since the start of her career, she’s served tons of sickening drag-inspired looks, keeping us on our toes about what she’s going to cook up next. At the 2025 Grammys on Sunday, February 2, Chappell took home the award for Best New Artist—but in our eyes, her entire red carpet look already made her the big winner of the night. In addition to the most incredible vintage Jean Paul Gaultier pull, Chappell’s iconic voluminous mermaid waves were the perfect cherry on top to her most glamorous look yet. And because we can’t get enough of her hair, we tracked down the exact products she used and all the details on how to get the look from her hairstylist Dom Forletta.
You will never catch Chappell lacking in any department. No matter where she’s going, she always has her outfit, makeup, and hair done to the nines. After her punk-inspired glam at Coachella, we quickly realized she’s a beauty icon just as much as a musical one. And at the Grammys, Chappell was unsurprisingly serving vintage glamour and mermaid hair. Although her 2003 JPG gown was perfectly on-brand yet equally as exciting and fresh, we couldn’t help but obsess over her long flowing curls that reached all the way down her back.

How to Get Chappell Roan’s 2025 Grammys Hair
Who knows how much Chappell’s gown is worth—but the products her hairstylist used are surprisingly affordable. (The Wavytalk tools
used to get her look are both under $100!) Forletta told StyleCaster all the steps he took to get her iconic Grammys mermaid waves. So whether you want to channel your inner Chappell Roan at home or are just looking to grab some new hair products, be sure to take note.
Since Chappell has naturally curly hair, her stylist started with un-washed hair to emphasize her natural hair texture—which he enhanced throughout the process.

to remove excess oil and lift the roots. “This helps wake up the hair and refresh it for styling,” he says.

“I alternate the direction of each curl to create maximum movement and texture,” he says.

to create more definition and texture. While doing this, I use my fingers to separate and loosen the curls.”
For even more volume and length, Don then adds pre-curled clip-in hair extensions to Chappel’s hair. After all the extensions are in, he gives her hair a final brush-through to blend everything together for a more cohesive and voluminous look.

“This adds extra volume, separation, and a matte finish for more texture and fullness,” he says.
To complete the look, Don loosely pins a modern victory roll to Chappell’s hair. Thanks to the products, Chappell’s hair stays super voluminous and curly throughout the night—even after she transitions from her carpet look to an all-down hairstyle.
