One of the most interesting trends of the last couple years is this: skin is so in. But it’s interesting, not for the reason you think. Like yeah of course, it’s sexy. But it’s also quite a brave one, especially for how prolific it seems to be. It’s so prominent, and at the same time so gutsy. Shorts are getting shorter, sometimes so short that they’re all but indistinguishable from underwear. When we talk about sheer fabric, it’s a matter of how sheer. The nipple is now not only free, but running wild. In the last year, we have seen exposed butt cracks on celebrity red carpets, dresses that appear to be draped with nothing but a pin and a prayer, and last year on the Maison Margiela Haute Couture runway, literal prosthetic vaginal pubes underneath sheer couture gowns. Under boob, side boob, cleavage deeper than the sea. This is, of course, in tandem with other skin-showing trends, like low rise jeans, body chains, belly button piercings, exposed bra straps. Shamelessness is in, and modesty is… well, hanging out around here somewhere… I swear I just saw her. Maybe check the bathrooms.

This year at Paris Fashion Week, that trend remains strong. Celebs like Gabbriette, Tyla, and Gabrielle Union have been wearing extremely sexy clothes to the shows, to the point where you wouldn’t even know it’s January. Gabbriette arrived to the Saint Laurent show wearing an incredibly interesting look. It was comprised of black sheer nylon tights and also more tights. The entire look was incredibly creative and beautiful, while still being sexy and glamorous. She wore on top of her look a black fur shrug that totally engulfed her. Tyla wore a show-stopping black gown with arm holes sliced from her shoulders to her upper thigh. Those two made Gabrielle Union’s extremely sexy sheer body con dress looked modest in comparison.
