What to Look for When Buying Winter Boots
Extreme cold requires extremely warm winter boots. When shopping for winter boots, there are a few things to consider. First, think about what kind of weather protection you’ll need. In most winter conditions, a water-repellent upper is enough to keep your soles dry. However, if you live in a wet climate, opting for waterproof snow boots is a better way to go. It’s also worth looking at the insulation and opting for a pair of boots that either have that classic down puffer insulation or are lined with faux fur (or both!) to keep soles snug.
Since weather can change so frequently, winter boots also need plenty of traction. Look for boots with durable rubber bottoms that feature lug sole traction to prevent your feet from slipping and sliding—even when you accidentally run into a little black ice.
