Rose will always be a classic scent. It’s arguably the most iconic floral note, and its powdery yet sweet smell is incredibly popular for a reason. Rose is a symbol of love and beauty—and for some of us, rose perfume is timeless enough to withstand all of the trendy scent notes popping up on TikTok. On the other hand, rose can sometimes feel overdone and outdated. Even though it’s way more versatile than we think, rose is often associated with those overpowering “old lady” scents we’re told to steer clear of. Honestly, I used to be totally against wearing rose scents—that is, until I tried the new Noteworthy N.150 Blush Affair perfume.

Noteworthy’s N.150 perfume calls itself “an irresistibly modern rose fragrance.” Although it boasts being a rose perfume, its other notes make it a bit more complex than your usual rose perfume. For top notes, it has lychee, creme de cassis, and quince for that fruity yet gourmand quality. Meanwhile, its middle notes are super floral—with geranium, rose petals of course, and jasmine. Finally, its bottom notes round everything out with earthy notes like velvet musk, cedarwood, and white amber for a woody touch that is incredibly addicting. Inspired by romance, it came just in time for all the Valentine’s Day festivities.

Our Noteworthy N.150 Blush Affair Review

Even though I’ve never considered myself a rose perfume girly (or a floral scent person in general), N.150’s other notes called out to me. Firstly, I am a huge fan of lychee. To me, lychee is perfect for that girly and fresh smell, but it’s still way more mature than your usual middle school-era body spray. Chances are, if a perfume has a lychee note I’m more than willing to give it a try, and N.150 was no different. I know there are other popular scents with both rose and lychee notes, but sometimes I crave something a little more musky to balance it out, and I found that with N.150.

Sometimes, I get a little overwhelmed reading all of the notes a single perfume has. And in a lot of cases, I have a hard time imagining how they all combine together seamlessly. N.150’s notes are definitely all over the place, but I realized it’s probably for good reason. Personally, I wouldn’t usually go for a perfume with floral top, middle, and bottom notes. So N.150’s earthy bottom notes are a breath of fresh air. They’re not super noticeable upon first sniff, but like most base notes—they tend to linger as time passes. Often, overly floral and fruity scents can become too much for me and they quickly reach headache territory over time. But thanks to N.150’s subdued bottom notes, I didn’t feel taken aback by the sweet notes.

Rose still isn’t my favorite scent note, but N.150 has allowed me to become way more appreciative of its versatility. Maybe on it’s own (or paired with too many sweet notes), it’s too much—but with a multifaceted scent profile like this one, it’s way easier to stomach. Plus, I will never turn down the chance to wear a lychee perfume. To me, N.150 is youthful and fun without being immature. Its base notes really save it, and I can’t imagine it smelling this good without that woody touch.

If you love rose but are craving something a little different, N.150 is definitely worth trying. At the same time, I would also recommend it to people who don’t typically go for a super floral perfume, but are flirting with the idea of trying one. It has the rose scent that floral fans will love, but it’s also playful and modern for people looking to spice up their usual rotation with a new and exciting perfume.
